Golf Digest Junior Pro-Am

The Travelers Championship will host its third annual Golf Digest Junior Pro-Am at TPC River Highlands on Tuesday, June 19. The Golf Digest Junior Pro-Am will feature 36 junior golfers, their junior caddies and PGA TOUR professionals in a nine-hole scramble on the front nine of TPC River Highlands. Junior golfers from the Connecticut Section PGA, the Metropolitan Section PGA and The First Tee of Connecticut can earn a spot by either fundraising for their respective organizations through the tournament’s Birdies for Charity program or submitting a letter of exemption. The evening will conclude with a reception for the golfers, caddies and their families to celebrate the experience.


Eligibility: (There are two ways to earn a playing spot in the Golf Digest Junior Pro-Am)

1) Participate in the Birdies for Charity fundraiser conducted by Connecticut Section PGA, The First Tee of Connecticut or The Metropolitan Section PGA.

2) Submit a letter to the Travelers Championship Tournament Director, Nathan Grube requesting entry into the Golf Digest Junior Pro-Am. This exemption letter is designed to be similar to a Sponsor Exemption request required of the PGA TOUR professionals.

Guidelines for submitting a letter for exemption, please include the following:

  • General biographical information about the junior golfer (age, hometown, home golf club if applicable, school, hobbies, community involvement, etc.).
  • Junior golfer’s reason for wanting to play in this event.
  • Information about their level of golf experience.
  • Name and contact information.
  • Contact information for one reference who can attest to the junior golfer’s level of golf experience.
  • Request should be no longer than 1,000 words.

  • Junior golfer must be between 10 – 18 years of age.
  • Male and females are encouraged to apply.
  • Deadline for entries is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10.
  • Players selected to compete will be notified by Tuesday, June 14.
